Air pollution is a severe environmental hazard that is affecting both urban and rural areas in Bangladesh. Two major sources of air pollution are vehicular emissions and industrial emissions, which are concentrated in cities. Children are especially vulnerable to the health effects of air pollution as they breathe more air relative to their body weight. The government is working to expand air quality monitoring and management efforts to additional major cities to better understand and address the problem.
