The Mandarin of Malaya-Singapore has come up to an important period since 1919. Not only the Mandarin spread over most of society, but also deeply rooted in the local cultural soil. The external factors were mainly influenced by Chinese New Cultural Movement and Guoyu Movement, while the internal factor raised by the learning Guoyu among Malaya-Singapore. Those language classes such as night school, cram school, Chuanxisuo were springing up like mushrooms and became a main promotor of Mandarin. This wave of Guoyu Movement also affected the re-sinicization of Peranakan group and expanded the effected of integration ethnic. On the other hand, the merger of Chinese schools and unification in teaching language at that time continuously promoted the status of Guayu as an ethnic language. Until the eve of WWII, Mandarin has basically integrated the dialect groups of Malaya-Singapore, and became a primary connotation and symbol of Chinese consciousness.
