This document describes a study that designed an improved integer coefficients infinite impulse response (IIR) digital filter for portable ECG monitors. The proposed filter aims to instantaneously and effectively eliminate baseline drift interference in the main frequency band and 50Hz power frequency interference from ECG signals. The filter was tested on the MIT/BIH Arrhythmia Database and was applied in a portable mobile medical system to meet real-time ECG filtering requirements and performance.
