What is Faunal Processing at Qesem Cave, Israel about?

The study investigates the controlled use of fire and its implications for human subsistence at Qesem Cave in Israel, dating back to approximately 300,000 years ago. It highlights the spatial distribution of hearths and associated faunal remains, particularly focusing on the Mesopotamian fallow deer, suggesting social hunting techniques and seasonal patterns. The findings contribute to understanding human behavior and subsistence strategies during the Acheulo-Yabrudian Cultural Complex in the Levant.
