About the Reaction of BeCl~2~ with the Carbodiphosphorane Addition Compound O~2~C←C(PPh~3~)~2~ and its Hydrolysis Product Ph~3~PCHP(O)Ph~2~ by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Petz; Kurt Dehnicke; Prof. Dr. Bernhard Neumüller is a Chemistry article available to read on EtoBox.

What is About the Reaction of BeCl~2~ with the Carbodiphosphorane Addition Compound O~2~C←C(PPh~3~)~2~ and its Hydrolysis Product Ph~3~PCHP(O)Ph~2~ about?

## Abstract Abstract. Reaction of BeCl~2~ and (PPh~4~)[Be~2~Cl~6~] with Ph~3~PCHP(O)Ph~2~ (2) and of BeCl~2~ with O~2~C←C(PPh~3~)~2~ (3) were studied under various conditions. Whereas the addition compound of 2 with BeCl~2~ could only traced by ^31^P NMR spectroscopy the molecular structure of the O‐addition compound [Ph~3~PCH~2~P(OBeCl~3~)Ph~2~]·0.75CH~2~Cl~2~ (5) from 2 and (PPh~4~)[Be~2~Cl~6~] could be performed. From 3 and BeCl~2~ in dichloromethane crystals of (H~2~C{PPh~3~}~2~)[BeCl~4~] (6) and (H~2~C{PPh~3~}~2~)Cl~2~·CH~2~Cl~2~ (7) separated. The cluster [Be~6~(OH)~6~Cl~5~(O~2~C~2~{PPh~3~}~2~)~3~]Cl(8) formed upon unintentionally admitting some humidity to the initial reaction mixture. In 8 each of the bidentate ligands 3 bridges two different beryllium atoms via the oxygen atoms. All compounds are characterized by X‐ray diffraction analyses.
