About this document
Understanding Coordinate Systems by Rahat Jobayar is a document available to read on EtoBox.
A geographic coordinate system (GCS) uses spherical coordinates of latitude and longitude to reference locations on Earth based on a spheroidal model of the earth. A GCS includes an angular unit of measure, prime meridian, and datum. A datum is a defined spheroid and location for the origin. Bangladesh uses the Gulshan 303 and Everest Bangladesh datums. A projected coordinate system projects locations from a spheroid onto a flat plane using a map projection with linear units.
