This document describes the development of an array membrane electrode assembly for high-throughput screening of direct methanol fuel cell anode catalysts. The array fuel cell uses standard membrane electrode assembly fabrication methods and modified fuel cell hardware to allow realistic testing conditions for catalyst screening. Testing of four commercial catalysts demonstrated the performance of the array fuel cell, with PtRu from Johnson Matthey performing best within the potential range of a DMFC anode.
