Jamil Shah Girnari was a saint with a contested religious identity, seen as Gorakhnath by Hindus and Jamil Shah Datar Girnari by Muslims. He lived in the Girnar hills in Gujarat, known for being a sacred pilgrimage site for both Jains and Hindus. He interacted with both Nath Yogis and Jain monks. Later, he was brought to Sindh by Pir Patho to help convert people, taking on a dual identity as Gorakhnath and Jamil Shah Girnari.
