This document discusses using poultry manure as a substrate for methane fermentation. Poultry production in Poland generates significant amounts of manure annually with biogas potential. However, fermenting chicken manure alone poses challenges due to high nitrogen concentrations which inhibit methane-producing bacteria. The authors conducted experiments diluting chicken manure to reduce nitrogen levels. Dilution down to 6% dry matter improved biogas/methane production and yield compared to lower dilutions.
