This study evaluated the effect of hydroxyethyl starch (HES) solution on platelet closure time (CT) in dogs. Seven dogs received 20 mL/kg of 6% HES 670/0.75 intravenously over 1 hour, while four of these dogs along with three others served as controls and received saline. CT was measured before and up to 24 hours after infusion using a platelet function analyzer.
