What is Beauty and the Beast: A Moral Tale about?

A merchant gets lost in the woods and takes refuge in a castle, where he picks a rose and is confronted by a horrible beast. The beast agrees to let the merchant go if he sends his daughter Belle to live in the castle. Belle goes and realizes the beast is gentle. The beast lets Belle return home when she sees her father is ill. Belle returns when she sees the beast is ill, and declares her love for him, breaking the spell and transforming him into a prince. They marry and live happily ever after.
