Reynolds Obeng conducted two experiments to determine sources of inoculum for plant pathogens. In the first experiment, he exposed culture media to air and found that fungi and bacteria colonies grew on the exposed media but not the unexposed control. This supported the hypothesis that microbes are present in air and can be a source of inoculum.
