MINI will join the World Rally Championship starting in 2011, competing at selected events that year and contesting the full season in 2012. They will enter the MINI Countryman WRC, developed by Prodrive based on the production Countryman. It will use a 1.6L turbocharged engine compliant with new regulations aimed at reduced costs.
