What is Asian Regionalism about?

Asian regionalism, primarily through ASEAN and APEC, was established to promote economic cooperation and stability in Southeast Asia, initially to counter Communism during the Vietnam War. Key initiatives include the ASEAN Plus Three for risk-sharing and the East Asia Summit for discussing regional security and economic issues. The focus is on open regionalism, which aims to integrate Asia with the global economy while fostering collaboration and innovation among member nations.
