What is I-280 Bridge Hinge Replacement Closure about?

The California Department of Transportation will fully close southbound Interstate 280 in Oakland between downtown San Francisco and the Pennsylvania Avenue on-ramp from 9 PM on May 22 to 5 AM on May 27 over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. This closure is to replace bridge hinges and will detour traffic to US 101. Similar closures are planned for the July 4th and Labor Day weekends to complete the work.
