Benazir Bhutto was a Pakistani politician who served two terms as Prime Minister of Pakistan, making her the first woman to lead a Muslim country. She was born in 1953 to the family of former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. After her father was overthrown and executed in a military coup in 1977, Benazir went into politics and helped form the Pakistan Peoples Party. She was elected Prime Minister in 1988, becoming the first woman to lead a Muslim nation. Her government was dismissed in 1990 on corruption
