Purpose/Objective(s): To model potential causative factors of local tumor control probability (TCP) for non-small-cell lung cancer patients (NSCLC). This work significantly modifies our previous analysis of this dataset. Materials/Methods: A subset of 57 patients with single, radiographically identified stage I-III NSCLC tumors was analyzed. Patients were treated with high-dose radiation for non-small cell lung cancer using standard fractionation and 3D treatment planning. Dose-volume and tumor location factors were examined for the GTV and PTV target volumes, including: minimum, maximum, and mean doses; Dx values (min. dose to the hottest x % volume in Gy); Vx values (% volume receiving greater than xGy); and tumor center locational factors. Monte Carlo-corrected dose distributions were used. Variable selection stability was monitored using bootstrap replicates; cross-validation was used to estimate predictive power. Results: Of 57 patients, 22 failed locally during follow-up (median recurrent interval, 19 months); 32 patients were still alive at last follow-up, with 20 free of disease.
