About this document
Understanding Capacitance and Capacitors by Shahnaz Ahmed is a document available to read on EtoBox.
A capacitator stores electric charges and can be used as an energy source to power a light bulb for a few minutes after disconnecting from a battery. The capacitance, or ability to store charge, can be increased by using metal plates with larger surface areas, applying a higher voltage, using a material with higher dielectric properties between the plates, or decreasing the distance between plates. The greater the capacitance, the longer the bulb can glow after disconnecting from the power source.
