This study investigates the impact of sarcopenia on the prognosis of patients with cirrhosis hospitalized for acute decompensation or acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). It found that while sarcopenia was present in 50% of the patients, it was not associated with increased mortality rates, which were similar in patients with and without sarcopenia. Additionally, there was a non-significant trend indicating a higher prevalence of sarcopenia among those with ACLF.
