The Aldo-DHF trial assessed the effects of spironolactone on diastolic function and exercise capacity in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Results showed that spironolactone improved diastolic function but did not significantly enhance exercise capacity or quality of life. The study concluded that while spironolactone led to reverse remodeling and improved neuroendocrine activation, further investigation is needed to determine the clinical significance of these findings.
