Multiple micronutrient supplements during pregnancy did not reduce anemia or improve iron status compared to iron-only supplements in a study in semi-rural Mexico. Both supplements had high compliance (>85%) but anemia increased dramatically by the third trimester in both groups, with almost half of women anemic.
