Jnanadei Maluni and Nitei Dhobani were powerful female Tantric gurus in Jagannatha temple, though from humble backgrounds as a garland maker and cloth washer, respectively. Along with Gangi Gauduni, Sua Teluni, Luhukuti Luhurani, Sukuti Chamaruni, and Patrapindhi Saharuni, they were known as the "seven sisters", followers of Tantric princess Lakshminkara. Though from low castes, they became respected and even feared in Puri, and are still worshipped today.
