What is Scotch-Irish Heritage in Tuscarawas about?

The Scotch-Irish were a key part of the ethnic mix of Tuscarawas County, settling there in the early 19th century after originally migrating from Northern Ireland to Pennsylvania and other mid-Atlantic colonies in the 1700s. The Scotch-Irish migration was spurred by economic hardship in Ireland and opportunities in the new American colonies. They established themselves throughout the backcountry and Appalachian regions, playing important roles in the development of those areas and fighting in the Revolution
