This study investigates the impact of relative age on academic self-concept, peer relations, and teacher judgments among German primary school students. The analysis of 18,956 fourth graders reveals no significant disadvantages for younger students in academic self-perception or peer relations, except for a minor advantage in reading self-concept. These findings challenge the assumption that younger students are consistently disadvantaged compared to their older classmates in educational settings.
