What is Coenraet Roepel: 18th-Century Painter about?

Coenraet Roepel was an 18th century Dutch painter of fruit and flower still lifes. He studied under Constantijn Netscher to improve his ability to paint flowers from his garden. In 1716, he traveled to Dusseldorf and received honors from the Elector Palatine for his work. However, when his patron died that same year, Roepel returned to the Netherlands. He became a successful painter in The Hague, though was later surpassed by the renowned flower painter Jan van Huysum. Roepel taught one pupil, Pieter Terwes
