Barack Obama was born in 1961 in Hawaii to a Kenyan father and American mother. He graduated from Columbia University and Harvard Law School, then worked as a community organizer and law professor in Chicago. Obama was elected as a Senator from Illinois in 2004 and went on to be elected the first African American President of the United States in 2008. As President, he oversaw the killing of Osama bin Laden, removal of troops from Iraq, and passage of healthcare reform.
