What is First Rain about?

Alicia Stormwell thought being a magical veterinarian would be exciting. She imagined healing griffins, treating injured phoenixes, and maybe even negotiating peace between rival dragon colonies. Instead, she spends her days dodging projectile manticore diarrhea and questioning every life choice that led her here. When an abused wyvern lands on her examination table, she can’t just file a report and move on. She has to find out who is responsible. But she isn’t just dealing with a few shady smugglers. She has walked straight into the heart of a supernatural trafficking ring, and the creatures running it are more monstrous than anything she has ever seen in a cage. If she doesn’t act fast, those fantastic beasts will disappear forever and she might not live long enough to regret it. Her magic is limited. Her training has never been tested outside a sparring mat. And if she doesn’t figure out how to fight back, she is going to end up on a very long list of missing witches. Magic won’t save her. But maybe, just maybe, a well-placed punch will.
