Ford Motor Company is an American automaker founded in 1903 in Dearborn, Michigan. In addition to Ford and Lincoln brands, Ford owns small stakes in Mazda and Aston Martin. Ford introduced mass production techniques using moving assembly lines, known as Fordism. Ford is the second largest automaker in the US and fifth largest in the world, producing over 5 million vehicles annually prior to the economic crisis. The company is controlled by the Ford family through majority ownership.
