Thermoelastic Excitation Of Multi-directional Fibrous Composite Cylinders by N. Mukherjee; P.K. Sinha is a Engineering article available to read on EtoBox.
What is Thermoelastic Excitation Of Multi-directional Fibrous Composite Cylinders about?
The thermoelastic response in multi-directional fibrous composite cylinders, transporting heat waves, has been examined by using the finite element method. A simple transformation-based multi-directional material model is evolved where, within a unit cell, a number n of unidirectional composite bundles can be dispersed in three orthogonal planes such that they maintain material axisymmetry. Thermoelastic constitutive relations for the present model are improvised from a set of established micromechanical theories for unidirectional composites. An explicit transient thermal analysis, covering all conventional modes of heat transfer, evaluates the temperature time history in composite structures with rotational symmetry. A dynamic structural analysis evaluates the transient stress and deformation patterns of the cylinder as affected by heat waves. The results depict the effects of different types of heat waves, moisture and internal coating on the thermoelastic response.
