After receiving threats from the Quraish in Mecca, the Prophet Muhammad and many of his followers migrated to Yathrib (now Medina). Most companions succeeded in migrating except Ali and Abu Bakr. The Quraish plotted to kill the Prophet, but he was warned by God and left for Medina under cover of night. He tasked Ali with sleeping in his bed to confuse pursuers.
