What is Describing the Barranquilla Carnival about?
The Barranquilla Carnival is an annual festival held in Colombia every February. It has its origins in the Carnivals brought to South America from Spain, celebrating renewal and change. During the festival, people dance, sing, laugh and enjoy wearing colorful costumes and masks. Traditional foods enjoyed include sancocho de guandú, casaba, fried mojarra fish with patacones and rice with coconut. The carnival is a celebration where people can enjoy themselves regardless of nationality.
