About this document

Efficient Metagenome Assembly with Graphs by Anh H Nguyen is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This document describes a new method for storing de Bruijn graphs, which are used in genome assembly, in a memory-efficient way using probabilistic data structures called Bloom filters. It allows assembly graphs to be stored using as little as 4 bits per k-mer. The method is applied to partitioning assembly graphs into components to reduce memory requirements for de novo assembly of metagenomes. Testing on a soil metagenome assembly showed nearly a 40-fold decrease in maximum memory needed using this approa
