Section 11 of the Evidence Act 1950 states that facts not otherwise relevant can become relevant if they are inconsistent with the facts in issue or make the existence of facts highly probable or improbable. Section 155 allows the credit of a witness to be impeached by the adverse party through evidence from others who believe the witness is unworthy of credit, proof of bribery or corrupt inducement, or prior inconsistent statements.
