What is Bionomics of two forensically important blowfly species Chrysomya megacephala and Chrysomya putoria (Diptera: Calliphoridae) reared on four types of diet about?

A key factor for the accurate estimate of post-mortem interval (PMI) using entomological evidence is the reliance on life cycle data obtained under controlled laboratory conditions. Tissues from domestic animals are commonly used in development studies of necrophagous species, especially blowflies (Calliphoridae). However, the lack of standardized procedures among laboratories often compromises extrapolation of the findings to different forensic scenarios. For example, variations in the type of animal tissue on which insects are reared can produce marked differences in their development [1][2][3], which can lead to inaccurate estimates of PMI. Despite its use as substrate for insect rearing in the laboratory, raw meat is a highly heterogeneous medium, susceptible to rapid putrefaction and frequent contamination. To overcome these obstacles, semi-synthetic diets have been increasingly used in studies of bionomics of necrophagous insects, since they are relatively homogeneous and reproducible media of known composition that can be produced consistently using simple laboratory facilities [4,5]. For the development of a suitable semisynthetic diet several criteria must be met, such as
