What is Alexander Graham Bell: Telephone Inventor about?

Alexander Graham Bell, a Scottish inventor born in 1847, invented the telephone in 1875 while experimenting with transmitting speech over wires. He succeeded where others had failed by transmitting recognizable voice-like sounds between instruments located in different rooms. On March 7, 1876, Bell was granted the first telephone patent, and three days later successfully tested his new transmitter by calling for his assistant Thomas Watson. Bell went on to found the Bell Telephone Company in 1877.
