What is Iota 7 about?

It is the year 1779 as gauged by the end of the Crude War between the United Commonwealth and the Shadoway Empire. Now the Shadoway stretches across one quarter of the Milky Way, its capital the gigantic and industrial planet Iota 7. But the people that emerged triumphant from the last war are growing corrupt and decadent themselves. How will they fare when they discover they are not the only galactic power and will have to fight to secure their future? Conan Switzgerald is the captain of the Shadoway elite guard and a veteran of the Crude War. He is disgusted by how his once-great people have fallen and the ineptitude of the contemporary leadership. He has issued warnings time after time, but no one will listen to an old warmonger like himself. Yet when his fears are justified, he becomes the Shadoway's greatest asset and their best shot at survival.
