What is Obelia: Structure and Habitat Overview about?

Obelia is a colonial hydroid found in shallow marine waters around the world. Each colony consists of branching stems called hydrocauli that bear feeding and reproductive polyps. The feeding polyps capture prey using tentacles containing stinging cells. Reproductive polyps called blastostyles bud off swimming medusa stages for sexual reproduction. Mature Obelia colonies are trimorphic, containing three types of polyps - feeding polyps, reproductive blastostyles, and free-swimming medusa stages.
