The new six-lane bridge connecting FM 1709 and Northwest Highway will open later this year with nine lanes and a Texas U-turn on the east side. Access to some businesses will change as a result of the traffic switch, and Gateway Plaza shopping center businesses can be reached using FM 1709. Northwest Highway and FM 1709 will be closed and detoured between 8 PM on August 3rd to 6 AM on August 6th.
