What is Mutation Rate of CsRV1 in Blue Crabs about?
This study investigates the mutation rate of Callinectes sapidus Reo-like Virus 1 (CsRV1) in blue crabs by injecting hatchery-raised crabs with the virus and analyzing subsequent generations. A total of 3 mutations were identified out of 11,453 base pairs sequenced, resulting in a mutation rate of 1.696 x 10^-5 substitutions per 1000 base pairs per generation. The findings suggest that measuring the mutation rate of CsRV1 is feasible and could enhance understanding of the virus
