The constitution of Andorra provides for religious freedom but designates Catholicism as the privileged religion. While other faiths can practice freely, they do not have official legal status. In 2016, the government began discussions to establish cemeteries for Jews and Muslims to bury their dead according to religious customs. Some Muslims also expressed concerns about having to remove head coverings in official photos.
