What is Artigo 2 about?

This study evaluates the epidemiological characteristics of children undergoing cataract surgery at a tertiary referral center in São Paulo, Brazil, analyzing data from 240 operated eyes of 178 children. The findings indicate that the mean age at first visit and surgery was 48.9 months and 64.5 months, respectively, with leukocoria being the most common sign reported by parents. Delays in treatment were attributed to incomplete red reflex tests and a lack of specialized pediatric ophthalmology resources.
