About this document
Shortwave Diathermy Overview and Applications by ZA ID is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Shortwave diathermy uses electromagnetic waves between 107-108 Hz to generate heat in body tissues. It consists of a machine circuit that produces high frequency currents and a patient circuit that transfers energy. Energy is transferred through either a capacitor field method using electrodes or cable method wrapping a cable. This causes oscillation of ions and molecules in tissues, generating heat. Shortwave diathermy is used to treat inflammation, infections, pain and increase blood flow through heating
