What is CERN about?
1) In 1995, CERN successfully created nine antihydrogen atoms, the first observation of antimatter, using the Low Energy Antiproton Ring. 2) Subsequent experiments by CERN and Fermilab created "hot" antihydrogen atoms with too much energy to study. Later experiments like ATHENA and ALPHA formed to create "cold" antihydrogen atoms with less energy. 3) In 2010, the ALPHA collaboration trapped 38 antihydrogen atoms for about 1/6 of a second, the first time neutral antimatter was trapped.
