This study evaluated using visible and near-infrared spectroscopy combined with multivariate statistical analysis to classify Alpaca fiber samples according to age, sex, and color. Samples from 291 Alpacas were scanned from 400-2500 nm. Principal component analysis and partial least squares discriminant analysis were used to classify samples. Results showed PLS-DA correctly classified 100% of samples by age, with intermediate classification rates for color, and lower rates for sex discrimination. The study
