## From the editor's desk Once again we are at the years end and it is my pleasant duty to acknowledge and thank all those who have helped with the editorial process. I would particularly like to thank Chris J. Secombes, James Mason and Gavin Burnell. Chris J. Secombes assisted in the editing of three papers which appeared in Volume 4 Number 1 which originated from the St. Andrews meeting organised jointly by the European Aquaculture Society (EAS) and the Society for Experimental Biology in April 1995. James Mason and Gavin Burnell assisted in the editing of the Shell Special Issue Volume 4 Number 3 of which some papers also appeared in Volume 4 Number 4.
