What is Cerdic about?
The early history of Cerdic, the founder of Wessex, recorded in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle is considered unreliable due to contradictory information and duplicate reports of events. Some scholars suggest Cerdic may have been the Saxon leader defeated at the Battle of Mount Badon around 490, but this cannot be confirmed.
