Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Knee Ligaments and Tendons by Martin L. Schwartz is a Medicine article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Knee Ligaments and Tendons about?

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the knee is a universally accepted noninvasive technique for showing posttraumatic injuries of knee ligaments and tendons. Today's athletes generate greater stress on their knees, because they are bigger and faster than their predecessors. This article attempts to show normal MRI anatomy of the knee ligaments and tendons as well as several examples of soft-tissue pathology. An attempt is made to correlate abnormalities seen on MRI with the mechanism of injury when possible. Recent software improvements have increased our sensitivity to subtle injuries. Also, imaging of ligament grafts in the reconstructed patient is discussed. Hopefully, this article provides the sports medicine clinician with a better understanding of MRI of knee ligaments and tendons as well as imaging of traumatic injuries of these structures.
