Alongside her are her friends Gilbert Blythe, Charlie Sloane, and Priscilla Grant. After spending their first year in a boarding house, Anne and her girl-friends set up house in a cottage near the campus. Meanwhile, Gilbert gets rejected by her and their friendship drifts apart, until something drastic happens that makes Anne realise her true feelings.
