It has become clear to many, that the Ada language provides inadequate mechanisms for effecting asynchronous transfer of control [dB88] . Situations which might require such a transfe r of control, include but are not limited to: fault recovery, and mode changes in response to asynchronous events . As a result of this perceived need, S . Tucker Taft has proposed a new form of th e select statement, called an asynchronous select statement [0ff89] . This paper describes a method of translating Ada tasks which incorporate the proposed asynchronous select statement into standar d Ada .
