The National Power Corporation filed an expropriation case to acquire land for a substation project. The trial court granted the expropriation but respondents objected to the compensation amount. The court later recalled the writ of possession issued to NPC and cancelled it because NPC failed to deposit the additional amount ordered for just compensation which was set at PHP 2,000 per square meter. The case was brought to the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.
